SURF LESSONS

Learn to Surf, Stand up Paddleboard and Surf Skate or improve your current skill level with the Isle of Wight’s fully equipped Premium Mobile Surf Academy.

We provide bespoke, person centred tuition for adults and children from the age of 8 for all levels. Lessons are taught on an individual basis or in private groups of up to six students by a qualified coach and Beach Lifeguard.

We only coach in small private groups, as this low ratio of student to coach enables us to keep everyone safer and create an environment that is conducive towards the learning needs of each student, allowing them to develop confidence, progress faster, gain skills and have fun.

So you can be assured that you will receive specialist tuition in a fun, friendly environment at the most suitable and safest location.

At Eddie's Surf Academy, we believe in providing personalised attention and ensuring your safety and progress in the water. That's why we exclusively teach in small, private groups. Whether you're an individual looking to master the art of surfing, a family seeking a fun activity together, or a group of friends ready for an adventure, our lessons are perfect for you.

What sets us apart is our mobility. We go wherever the tide and surf conditions are best on your desired day. This allows us to provide you with the best possible surfing experience, ensuring you catch the most suitable waves for learning and having a great time.

We are passionate about surfing and dedicated to helping you build confidence and skill in the water. Whether you're a complete beginner learning the fundamentals or an advanced competitive surfer seeking to improve technique, we'll tailor our lessons to match your needs and aspirations.

The Isle of Wight offers a stunning coastline and varied surf spots, making it an ideal destination to learn and enjoy this exhilarating water sport, ensuring you have a memorable and safe surfing experience.

  • WHERE DO YOU MEET FOR LESSONS?
    We meet in Hanover car park. We have a big white van so you can’t miss us! Meet us there 10 minutes before your lesson so we can get some paperwork all filled out and then we can get you suited and equipped ready for surfing!
  • HOW LONG ARE LESSONS?
    All lessons are allocated a two hour time slot.
  • I HAVE MEDICATION WITH ME, WHERE CAN I PUT THEM WHILST I’M HAVING MY LESSON?
    When we go down to the beach for every lesson, we take with us a 'rescue bag'. Inside this bag we keep a few emergency first aid essentials and spares for boards. If you have medication that needs to be kept close by then it can be kept in this bag.
  • ARE WET SUITS AND SURFBOARDS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
    Yes, all the equipment you need is provided as part of the lesson prices.
  • WHAT ARE THE FACILITIES LIKE?
    There is an ice cream van for refreshments, (still in the car park) and there are public toilets.
  • WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
    All you need to bring with you is your swimming costume to go underneath the wetsuit that we provide, and a towel to get dry with at the end as well as some neoprene beach shoes.
  • COVID19
    We’re following all government guidelines and have been actively involved in scoping out industry best practice in partnership with key outdoor industry bodies and specialists.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS NO WAVES/BAD WEATHER?
    We keep a constant eye on the surf forecast and aim to anticipate ‘flat days’ in advance. We will always attempt to move your activity date or provide a paddleboard session in replace of any cancelled surfing lesson.
  • ARE WET SUITS AND SURFBOARDS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
    Yes, all the equipment you need is provided as part of the lesson prices.
  • COVID19
    We’re following all government guidelines and have been actively involved in scoping out industry best practice in partnership with key outdoor industry bodies and specialists.
